23 Feb All I Want Is a Bookstore and Some Tea!
Some people unwind by picking a movie to watch, heading to the gym, or scrolling on their phones — catching up, connecting, or simply passing the time.
I’ve even had my own moments where I wanted to plan outings with friends and catch up on the happenings of life. But lately, I’ve realized that all I really want is a quiet bookstore and some tea.
No noise.
No forced conversations and low social-battery meters.
Just a bookstore and some tea. (for the record, I’m talking about real tea — not “drama” tea).
There’s something about walking between shelves that slows my thoughts down. The soft turning of pages, the quiet hum of conversations in the background… perhaps a little jazz music depending on your location.
The way time feels less rushed when a book is in your hands — it reminds me that rest doesn’t always look like doing ‘nothing.’ Sometimes rest looks like a well-deserved nap or a session of reading. Sometimes it looks like reflection — the kind that makes you pause and wonder, what have I been doing all this time?
A bookstore feels like endless possibilities. Every spine holds a voice, a perspective, a story waiting to meet you where you are.
Not to mention all of the accessories at your disposal — the bookmarks, silly cards, and marker sets… am I the only one getting excited here?
And the tea? Coffee? Iced chai?
Don’t get me started on the mini scones and sandwiches the cafés have to offer…
And maybe it’s not just me. Maybe it’s the people who walk into these spaces with the same quiet intention — drawn to peace, light chatter, and moments where it’s perfectly okay to just stare into space and think.
No loud distractions.
No pressure to perform — just soft conversations floating through the air.
The most noise you’ll hear is the clink, clink of glassware being set into the dirty bin… pages turning… chairs shifting gently against the floor. It’s the kind of calm that doesn’t demand your attention — it simply lets you exist.
It’s so nice to step away from the phone and enter into poetry and prose — a space where your mind can finally be at ease. In those quiet moments, you find yourself thinking about your own stories, settings, and a fresh set of characters waiting to come to life.
There’s something about that environment that allows your thoughts to slow down instead of competing for attention.
No constant notifications.
No overstimulation.
Matter of fact… yeah, put your phone on DND since you’re here.
This intentional quiet space can do more than inspire creativity — it can bring clarity. When your surroundings aren’t overwhelming your senses, you’re able to think more intentionally. Sometimes the best business decisions don’t come from rushing — they come from sitting still long enough to hear your own thoughts.
A calm environment doesn’t just recharge your creativity — it gives your mind room to process, to reflect, and to move forward with intention.
In a world that constantly asks us to move faster, sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause — to read, to think, to breathe without pressure.
A quiet bookstore and a warm drink might not solve everything, but it creates space for clarity, creativity, and peace. So find a quiet corner, pick up a book, enjoy your snacks, and dive in… and save me some snacks too!
